One of Manchester City’s most expensive signings ever, Eliaquim Mangala, now finds himself unwanted and available for transfer after two disappointing years at the club.
Fallen Serie A giants AC Milan and La Liga side Valencia, who Mangala was close to joining a year ago, have recently been linked with a move for the 25-year-old. According to France Football today, he now has another option – his former club, FC Porto.
The Portuguese club can only sign Mangala on loan, because of his high salary and the fee City would demand, but France Football has exclusive information that a no-strings-attached loan deal could happen.
Porto have an ‘offer on the table’ for Mangala to return to the Estádio do Dragão, it is reported, and that is one of the proposals for him to study this summer. Guardiola showed little interest in the centre-back in pre-season, and there was not even a place on the bench for him yesterday.
Mangala finds himself well down the pecking order as it stands, with an exit almost certain. Not only are Vincent Kompany, Nicolás Otamendi and John Stones ahead of him, but Guardiola has preferred 18-year-old Tosin Adarabioyo and several players out of their natural position, including Aleksandar Kolarov and Fernando.
