Manchester City and Schalke on verge of €55m deal for Leroy Sané, could be done this weekend

Manchester City could finally get their man this weekend after news from BILD tonight that they are only a ‘YES!’ away from signing Leroy Sané from Schalke.

A deal is finally close after Schalke proposed revised terms that would see City pay an initial fee of €37 million (£31.2 million), with add-ons pushing that to an eventual total of €55 million (£46.5 million) if objectives are met. Most of the objectives would be easily achievable, with others dependent on trophies won, appearances and goals.

The haggling is over, says the German newspaper, and the transfer is generally agreed upon, but still needs a final nod from City chiefs.

Schalke sporting director Christian Heidel admitted today that the 20-year-old had again told him on Wednesday that he would like to change clubs, and his wish looks like it is about to come true.

The Bundesliga club are planning to use the money already by lining up moves for a Sané replacement, PSG’s Benjamin Stambouli, and an additional full-back.

So after protracted negotiations, the mega-deal that sees one of European football’s most promising young talents, Leroy Sané, join Manchester City could finally be signed this weekend. Pep Guardiola’s revolution is gathering pace…
