After helping his club to win the prestigious Copa Libertadores last night, Marlos Moreno confirmed to the Colombian branch of FOX Sports that he is joining Manchester City. The 19-year-old was impressive as Atlético Nacional beat Independiente del Valle 1-0 (agg. 2-1) to lift the trophy, in what was Moreno’s final game for the Colombian club.
Following his own comments about a move to Manchester, his agent today offered further confirmation. Speaking to Futbolred, Eladio Tamayo said:
“I will travel with Marlos on Saturday to sign a contract with Manchester City. He will then go on loan to Deportivo La Coruña for a year.
“The main architect of all this is Marlos, with his discipline and commitment. I just contributed a little bit.
“I love him like a son. We built this dream together and we did it with the help of his mother, his brothers and his girlfriend.”
As confirmed by his agent, Moreno will put pen to paper this weekend on a long-term contract, then head out on loan to Spain. City denied Colombia’s Olympic team his services as they look to integrate him into European football as quickly as possible.
