Manchester City to announce a new four-year deal for Sergio Agüero

Manchester City are set to announce that club icon Sergio Agüero has signed a new four-year deal, according to The Sun.

The announcement is expected before the new Premier League season begins and will see an extra year added to his existing deal. He will also receive another pay rise, with his wages passing the £200,000-per-week mark, placing him among the club’s top earners. All of the paperwork has been agreed, The Sun claims.

Agüero’s new contract has been a topic of conversation for months. Back in March, we here at City Watch received solid information that Kun had already signed a new deal, but that City were delaying an announcement for unknown reasons.

Shortly after our report, Sam Lee at Goal posted an article with official documentation (below) from FIFA showing that there had been a transaction involving City, Agüero and his agent Hernán Reguera – these are usually contract signings or transfers.

James Robson of the Manchester Evening News also commented on the unannounced contract signing.

Whatever the reason for the delay, or if the contract has been redrawn, The Sun is now adamant that Manchester City will announce that Sergio Agüero, the scorer of the club’s most famous goal, will continue to grace the Premier League until 2020.
