Schalke director: Leroy Sané wants to leave the club for England

The Leroy Sané saga looks to be nearing a happy conclusion for Manchester City fans.

Schalke sporting director Christian Heidel has tonight spoken to the press and delivered some good news – for City fans, that is! Heidel said on Tuesday evening:

“Leroy Sané has expressed a desire to leave the club this summer. We have to accept.”

Though this was previously reported by BILD, confirmation from a club representative confirms the 20-year-old is leaving Gelsenkirchen.

The even better news? Heidel confirmed that England is Sané’s likely destination, and unless Chelsea appear out of nowhere with one of their famous transfer hijacks, this can mean only one thing – Leroy Sané is on his way to Manchester City.

However, before the celebrations begin, the two clubs must still agree a fee. Schalke continue to insist for a minimum of €50 million (£42 million), while City hope to acquire the German international at a lower cost. With tonight’s revelation, though, it seems like a matter of time…
