Manchester City have opened formal talks with Schalke over a deal for Germany winger Leroy Sané, Bild are tonight reporting, after breaking the news on Wednesday that the 20-year-old has agreed to join City.
Schalke sporting director Christian Heidel has met with Sané’s agent Jürgen Milewski and representatives from City to try and thrash out a deal, so far with no conclusion. Schalke are requesting €50 million (£41.8 million) plus bonuses for their prized possession, while City’s offer is currently below that.
‘Now begins the haggling’, says Bild, as the two clubs seek an agreement that would see one of Germany’s most exciting young talents move to the Etihad. The German newspaper says that ultimately, finances will be no issue because Guardiola is determined to work with the youngster.
Contrary to speculation that he is already in Manchester, Sané is on holiday in Los Angeles and uploaded a photo of himself with Mesut Özil earlier today.
