Reports in England and Spain consider Nolito to Manchester City close to a done deal, but we’re still without any official confirmation.
The Celta Vigo and Spain winger was on Cadena COPE’s ‘El Partido de las 12’ radio show tonight and after being quizzed about Euro 2016 so far, the hosts had to ask him about his future.
Nolito was asked, “Are you able to convince all of Manchester to learn Spanish?”, to which he responded with a laugh, “It would be nice.”
That was the closest to confirmation they could get out of the 29-year-old. When asked about his future, he again hinted at a move, saying, “You have to be brave and make decisions.”
When asked if he had spoken to Pep Guardiola, he responded bluntly with a “no” and asked the hosts to return the subject back to Euro 2016.
Nolito’s uncle already dished out spoilers the other day by saying his nephew is off to Manchester, and a former City striker and Nolito’s teammate at Celta, John Guidetti, also seemed to confirm the winger is on the move. Guidetti spoke glowingly of Nolito:
“He knows Pep Guardiola from his time at Barcelona. He is an amazing footballer.
“To have someone like that playing on the wing for you, it is an absolute pleasure. You can just see it in the way he has performed at the Euros.
“He just brings the ball into you and he has great delivery, you can just see it in the way he has performed at the Euros. I am pleased for him as well because this was a big, big time for him and this is a big opportunity for him. He deserves it.
“The year we have had a Celta has just been fantastic for us. I am pleased for him as well because this was a big, big time for him and this is a big opportunity for him.
“I am really pleased for him that he got this chance because he has done really well and he deserves it.”
It’s unknown if an announcement will arrive before the end of Euro 2016, but unless of some late events (and the Laporte saga taught us to expect the unexpected!), Nolito to Manchester City looks a sure thing.
