Gazzetta dello Sport: City face stiff competition for Stephan Lichtsteiner

First Calciomercato.com, then Tuttosport – now Italy’s most widely read and respected newspaper, Gazzetta dello Sport, also links Juventus star Stephan Lichtsteiner with a move to Manchester City.

While Tuttosport said Juve transfer chief Beppe Marotta would accept no less than €15 million (£11.8 million) for the right-back, currently representing Switzerland at Euro 2016, Gazzetta believes €12 million (£9.5 million) could seal a move. Still expensive for a player who will turn 33 next season, but Marotta is aware of rival interest, with Gazzetta reporting that both Chelsea and Wolfsburg are also keen on the experienced full-back.

Lichtsteiner to City? He isn’t the in the age range most Blues expected for new signings this summer, but in Italy they are all reporting serious interest from the Etihad.
