After reports from two newspapers in Spain in recent days suggesting Leroy Sané’s move to Manchester City is a done deal, the German press has today offered its own take on this unfolding saga.
While BILD are more restrained than their Spanish counterparts, they have information of a planned meeting between Schalke bosses in expectation of a huge bid from City for the 20-year-old German international.
Schalke are expecting an official offer of around €50 million (£39.6 million) from City at any time, and it may be too much to turn down. In preparation for this, sporting director Christian Heidel and coach Markus Weinzierl are set to meet to discuss what they will do with the money should Schalke sell their prized possession.
So while not as certain of Sané joining City as the Spanish media, now even the German press are offering encouragement of this deal happening. City must be wary of rival interest from Bayern Munich and others, but all signs point to a bid from the Etihad arriving on Schalke’s doorstep soon.
