SportItalia journalist Alfredo Pedullà continues to roll out his exclusives on the future of Yaya Touré. He recently claimed that Touré has a gentleman’s agreement with City from a year ago, allowing him to leave at no cost this summer.
Pedullà is adamant that Yaya wants a reunion with Roberto Mancini at Inter, so much so that he has turned down lucrative offers from China, MLS and the Middle East. In today’s update, the Italian journo claims that City appear happy to let the 33-year-old go at no cost, with Inter confident they can acquire the midfielder for free.
More surprisingly, Pedullà states that Touré is willing to drop his current wages by 40-50%, although bonuses would be included in the package to top up his reduced salary. If this deal goes ahead, it will likely be a two or three-year deal, possibly with the option of another year included.
It appears that Yaya has great respect for his former coach Roberto Mancini, and his agent Dimitri Seluk said as much earlier today. This would explain his openness to a new experience in Serie A, despite Inter being unable to offer Champions League football next season.
