Pedullà: Yaya Touré willing to take a wage cut to join Mancini’s Inter, a deal is likely

What does the future hold for Yaya Touré, one of Manchester City’s most iconic players? Today’s arrival of İlkay Gündoğan raises further doubts about the Ivorian’s chances of remaining at the Etihad, although it is possible the two could play together.

In the English press, the story is that Yaya is adamant about wanting to continue in the Premier League, even if not in the sky blue of City. Over in Italy, several newspapers and reputable journalists still believe a move to Inter could happen.

Earlier today, sports journalist Ivan Zazzaroni dropped some potentially huge news, saying he had been informed that Touré was in the Rozzano province of Milan yesterday to have a medical. This is the area where Inter are known to book medicals, but Touré’s controversial agent Dimitri Seluk has already denied it ever took place.

On the the other hand, Alfredo Pedullà is a very well-known journalist, particularly on the subject of Serie A transfers. Pedullà has his own exclusive information tonight about 33-year-old Touré. Pedulla starts by saying he can’t verify any claims that Yaya was in Milan for a medical yesterday, but his own information is that a move to Inter is very likely.

Not only does Pedullà believe Mancini’s insistence on a reunion will pay off, he claims that Yaya is willing to take a significant pay cut to join the Serie A side. Inter bosses have been cold on the idea of signing Touré, preferring to develop Geoffrey Kondogbia, who they signed when Yaya decided against joining last summer, and implementing new Bosman signing Éver Banega into the midfield. However, Mancini’s will to work with Yaya again is so strong that a deal could take place – especially with Chinese investment imminent.

Friday’s Corriere dello Sport also states that Inter want a deal for Yaya to happen, and soon.

While the feeling in England is that there’s no chance of him heading to Italy, over there they still believe a Mancio-Yaya reunion could be on the cards
