On This Day – May 7: SWP powers City to victory over Villa (2005)

On May 7 in City history…

1966: Manchester City draw 2-2 away at Leyton Orient in the old Division Two. Colin Bell was again on the scoresheet for City, with the 6,000 fans in attendance given a treat by ‘The King’. It was part of a seven game unbeaten run for City, who finished the 1965-66 season strongly.

2005: City win away at Villa Park in the Barclays Premier League. In what was the Blues’ penultimate game of the season, Shaun Wright-Philips and Kiki Musampa secured a 2-1 win as City ended the season with an eight game unbeaten run.
