On This Day

On This Day – April 22: City beat Wolves to close the gap on United (2012)

On April 22 in City history…

1978: Manchester City cruise to victory against Birmingham City at St Andrew’s with an emphatic 4-1 win. Two goals from Brian Kidd, as well as strikes from Paul Power and Gary Owen gave the travelling fans an away day to remember.

2012: City close the gap on rivals Manchester United to three points after a hard fought 2-0 away victory at Wolverhampton Wanderers. Goals from Aguero and Nasri gave Mancini’s side the win, and with United drawing earlier that day, it meant that the Manchester derby the following Monday was arguably the biggest game in Premier League history.

Happy Birthday: John Bray (1909-1982), Spencer Prior (45)
