Newcastle 1-1 City: player ratings

JOE HART – 6

Some erratic kicking, but made some crucial saves, notably the one to deny Wijnaldum.

PABLO ZABALETA – 5

It’s hard watching Zaba now. Positionally poor and his legs can’t keep him up with the game. Can’t see a future for him next season.

VINCENT KOMPANY – 5

Very rusty and it showed, lunging aimlessly into challenges. His passing out from the back was also way below par.

ELIAQUIM MANGALA – 5

Back to his usual below par self. Woeful passing, awful positioning, and lacks any intelligence when dealing with physical strikers.

ALEKSANDAR KOLAROV – 3

Shocking, absolutely shocking. It’s hard to see what he brings to this side, other than kick a football hard. Surely he won’t survive the summer?

JESUS NAVAS – 5

Has impressed in recent weeks, but he was dreadful tonight. Never attacked his man, and his delivery was awful.

YAYA TOURE – 5

A subdued performance. Unbelievably lethargic in possession, he strolled around the pitch half-arsed for the time he was on.

FERNANDO – 4

As much as he’s improved, the limitations are showing, and his inability to pass through the lines is a huge problem.

FABIAN DELPH – 3

What does he actually bring to the team? He’s genuinely dreadful.

KEVIN DE BRUYNE – 7 (Man of the Match)

Our best player by a country mile, let down by his lazy teammates who offer no movement when he’s in possession.

SERGIO AGUERO – 6

Scored the goal, but was largely ineffective. Dropped out to the wing too often, leaving us with nobody upfront.

SUBS:

FERNANDINHO – 6

Immediately made a difference, looked to up our tempo, should have started.

RAHEEM STERLING – 5

Rusty, but seems to have lost the ability to run at players.

WILFRIED BONY – N/A

No time to mark.
