On This Day – April 3: City destroy Burnley 6-1 in the rain

On April 3 in City history…

1993: The 20,000 strong at Maine Road are treated to a great performance as City beat Ipswich Town 3-1. Goals from Rick Holden, Niall Quinn and Michel Vonk secured the points, as City recorded their first win in three games.

2010: City sweep Burnley aside at Turf Moor, with Emmanuel Adebayor inspiring a 6-1 away win for Roberto Mancini’s side. It was a near perfect performance from the Blues, who ran riot in heavy rain and on a treacherous pitch. Current City captain Vincent Kompany scored City’s final goal, as Mancini’s side pushed towards the top four.

Happy Birthday: Frank Roberts (1893–1961)
