On This Day – April 2: City brush aside Aston Villa at Maine Road

On April 2 in City history…

1994: Manchester City sweep aside Aston Villa in a Premier League encounter, claiming a comfortable 3-0 win. Goals from Peter Beagrie, Uwe Rosler and Paul Walsh meant that the 26,000 at Maine Road went home happy.

2005: City draw away in an exciting game against Charlton Athletic, with Robbie Fowler amongst the scorers in the 2-2 stalemate. It proved to be a good result for the Blues, who took confidence from it and went on an eight game unbeaten run.

Happy Birthday: James McLuckie (1908–1986), Eyal Berkovic (44), Bruno Zuculini (23)
