On This Day – April 1: Niall Quinn scores a hat-trick as City crush Palace

On April 1 in City history…

1991: Manchester City fans went home buzzing after a hat-trick from “Disco Pants” Niall Quinn earned the Blues a 3-1 away win at Crystal Palace. This result was part of a seven match unbeaten run in what was a good season for City, who finished above rivals United in 5th place.

2000: Three months into the new millennium, City continued their push towards the Premier League with a comfortable 2-0 away win at Swindon Town. Goals from Shaun Goater and Mark Kennedy were enough to sink relegation threatened Swindon. City would not lose another game that season ahead of a return to the top flight.
