There have been reports recently that Vincent Kompany could be sold this summer, causing some disbelief among City fans. Despite being frustratingly injury prone, Kompany remains the club’s best defender and inspirational captain. Of the journalists reporting a potential departure, Duncan Castles (Sunday Times) is the most well known, and this weekend he reiterated his information that Kompany could go.

After a recent press briefing from City, four national newspapers reported the likelihood that Kompany will remain at City at least for another season. That information has been backed up today by Belgian publication Sport/Voetbalmagazine, who believe the captain will not be leaving this summer.
Despite so many injury problems, they report that City will give him one more season to prove his fitness. Many other players with such injury problems would likely be shown the door, but Vincent Kompany is special to the club.
Sport/Voetbalmagazine also speak of the possibility of a Kompany-Jason Denayer partnership, with Denayer reportedly having been told he is in next season’s plans. Like so many others, they speculate that Aymeric Laporte and John Stones could bolster the defensive ranks as City look to freshen up an ageing squad.
