On This Day – March 25: City crush United 3-0 at Old Trafford

On March 25 in City history…

1972: Manchester City draw 0-0 with Newcastle United away at St. James’ Park. Despite having legends such as Colin Bell, Mike Summerbee and Franny Lee in the starting eleven, City just couldn’t get over the line in what was a frustrating afternoon for the away side.

2014: City complete a league double over rivals Manchester United, hammering David Moyes’ side 3-0 at Old Trafford. A brace from Edin Dzeko before a crashing drive from Toure gave Manuel Pellegrini’s side a huge boost in their title pursuit.

Happy Birthday: Murtaz Shelia (47), Djamel Belmadi (40), Scott Sinclair (27)
