On This Day – March 15: Niall Quinn joins City

On March 15 in City history…

1990: Manchester City sign striker Niall Quinn from Arsenal for a fee of £800,000. The big Irishmen was an instant success at City, with his “disco pants” also working their way into City folklore. The imposing striker recorded an impressive tally for the Blues, scoring 66 goals in 204 games.

2014: City proved their title credentials by picking up a hard fought three points away at Hull City. Vincent Kompany was sent off very eary in the match, but David Silva put in one of his greatest City performances and led the team to victory. The Spanish wizard scored a peach from thirty yards before assisting Edin Dzeko in what was a key win in Pellegrini’s title-winning debut season.

Happy Birthday: Javier Garrido (31), José Ángel Pozo (20)
