On This Day – March 11: Kevin Keegan quits as manager

On March 11 in City history…

2005: Kevin Keegan quits as manager of Manchester City after a disappointing defeat to Bolton Wanderers. Keegan was replaced by Stuart Pearce, who we can only say produced some of the worst football City fans have ever seen. It was hard to envisage at that point that we’d be where we are now.

2012: Roberto Mancini’s City side see their title bid falter after a hugely frustrating loss away at Swansea. Despite dominating for large periods of the game, Mancini’s side were beaten 1-0 after some poor defending. It was arguably one of the lowest points of what turned out to be the most memorable season in City’s history.

Happy Birthday: Jack Rodwell (25)
