On This Day – March 4: Uwe Rösler joins the Blues

On March 4 in City history…

1994: Manchester City signed an East German international by the name of Uwe Rösler on loan, with an option to buy for a fee of £500,000. Arriving from Dynamo Dresden, the mullet-haired striker quickly became a fan favourite, scoring an impressive 50 goals in 152 appearances in his five seasons at Maine Road.

2015: City completed a double over bottom club Leicester City after a comfortable 2-0 win at the Etihad. The goals were scored by David Silva and James Milner, as Manuel Pellegrini’s side attempted to close the gap on eventual champions Chelsea. Who would’ve thought that a year later Leicester would top the Premier League?

Happy Birthday: Nicolas Anelka (37)
