City 0-3 Liverpool: player ratings

JOE HART – 4

Horrible positioning for the first goal, and it didn’t get much better after that. His kicking was also poor, often putting us into trouble.

PABLO ZABALETA – 3

Hard to write this, but I fear his days at City are numbered. Looks woefully off the pace, and relinquished all of his defensive responsibilities.

VINCENT KOMPANY – 4

After his “hunting season” comments, which are now funny for the wrong reasons, this was a shocker from the City captain. Lacking any communication with Otamendi, he was all over the place at times.

NICOLAS OTAMENDI – 4

Similar to Kompany, poor positioning and a lack of communication a huge problem. Missed headers, tackles and was just off the pace.

GAEL CLICHY – 5

Not really a great accolade to be given, but our best defender of the night. Looked the only player who wanted to win. Made many interceptions, and worked hard to provide an attacking threat.

JESUS NAVAS – 3

Dreadful. Reluctant to take his man on, and when he did, what followed was usually rubbish. His crossing is inconsistent at the best of times, and tonight was genuinely dreadful.

FERNANDINHO – 4

Provided energy, but no real quality. His passing was unusually awful with just 69.4% completed, and he offered us nothing in midfield when in possession. A shame after such a good performance at weekend.

FERNANDO – 5

Our best midfielder. Worked hard, making many interceptions and tackles. In possession though he wasn’t good enough. His passing range is far too limited for such a top side.

RAHEEM STERLING – 4

Hooked at half time, despite not actually being that bad. Looked like our only player with a bit of purpose when on the ball. Another learning curve for him.

DAVID SILVA – 3

Genuinely awful. He’s struggled for form in recent months, and tonight was arguably the worst performance of his City career. Playing in such an important position, and to offer so little when in possession just isn’t good enough.

SERGIO AGUERO – 3

Looked a yard off the pace. His touch and movement wasn’t at the level you’d expect from him. Had a great chance in the first half but didn’t even try to attack the cross.

SUBS:

WILFRIED BONY – 4

Made a little impact when he came on, but the game was more or less over.

KELECHI IHEANACHO – 4

Similar to Bony, he wasn’t able to offer us anything, though playing him out of position hardly helps.

ALEKSANDR KOLAROV – N/A

No time to mark.
