City 1-1 Liverpool (3-1 on penalties): player ratings

WILLY CABALLERO – 10 (Man of the Match)

Where to start? A crucial save from Origi, followed by some wonderful saves in the shootout to win us the cup. Pellegrini more than vindicated for starting him. Cemented his place in City history.

BACARY SAGNA – 7

Another solid display in an impressive season for the right-back. Bac was excellent defensively and provided a good outlet going forward. Hopefully the first of many trophies with us.

VINCENT KOMPANY – 8

Captain Fantastic! Was excellent all afternoon, thwarting Sturridge on several occasions. If we keep him fit, the title may yet be on!

NICOLAS OTAMENDI – 7

Another steady display from the ever improving Argentine. His partnership with Kompany seems to be going from strength to strength.

GAEL CLICHY – 7

After a much improved display in Kiev, the Frenchman picked up where he left off. He made several crucial interceptions and provided support for Sterling going forward.

FERNANDINHO – 8

Scored a goal, ran Moreno ragged, and provided Sagna with support all afternoon in his new right-sided role. Gutted for him that he missed his penalty, but who cares now he’s a winner?!

YAYA TOURE – 8

An excellent display from our long-time Wembley hero. Scored the winning penalty and displayed the quality we’ve been privileged to see in recent years – he’s imperious on his day!

FERNANDO – 8

In such a big game, Fernando’s role becomes very important, and he performed at a high level today. He made great tackles and vital interceptions, looking dominant in midfield. He can be more than pleased with his afternoon’s work.

RAHEEM STERLING – 7

Missed some crucial chances, but his all round display was good. He thwarted the threat of Clyne, and provided some moments of quality. Finishing really needs to improve, but it should do in the coming years.

DAVID SILVA – 9

David is back! A fine display which highlighted all of his excellent attributes. His passing, ability to create space and guile all showcased what a fantastic talent he is.

SERGIO AGUERO – 8

Could and maybe should have scored, but my word, what a player he is. His movement and touch are both sublime, and it’s a privilege seeing him play for City!

SUBS:

PABLO ZABALETA – 8

Came on to provide some attacking quality and immediately did so. His forward movement is great as is his understanding with Navas.

JESUS NAVAS – 7

Provided some much needed width when he came on. Great to see him back, he’ll be needed for the rest of the season.

WILFRIED BONY – N/A

No time to mark.
