Dynamo Kiev 1-3 City: player ratings

JOE HART – 7

Had very little do tonight, but when he was called upon he produced a stunning save to keep us ahead. Seems to have massively improved his distribution and is springing many counter attacks.

BACARY SAGNA – 7

Another excellent showing to add to what has been a phenomenal season for the French right-back. Imperious defensively and always willing to press forward when out of possession.

VINCENT KOMPANY – 8

A commanding display from City’s captain fantastic. His passing, tackling and marshaling of the back four has been sorely missed. Welcome back!

NICOLAS OTAMENDI – 8

Another imperious display from the Argentine. He’s so good at defending on the front foot, always eager to press the opposition. Seemed to excel in good Kompany.

GAEL CLICHY – 7

He waned a bit in the second half, but he still kept the dangerous Yarmolenko quiet, and though he lacks the attacking qualities of Kolarov, he makes some good forward runs.

FERNANDO – 8

A monstrous performance from the much maligned midfielder. Completing one hundred percent of his passes, shielding the back four superbly, pressing when out of possession, and setting us up on many a counter. Can we have this Fernando every week please?

YAYA TOURE – 8

His defensive contribution is often criticised, but tonight he was fantastic. Scored a superb goal and looked like the Yaya of old. Hopefully he’ll produce the same again on Sunday.

FERNANDINHO – 9 (Man of the Match)

Deployed on the right tonight, and he slotted in effortlessly. He was the standout player on the pitch, providing some great passes and phenomenal tackles.

DAVID SILVA – 7

He’s looked back to his sparkling self. The ball is glued to his feet at times, and his ability to maneuver the ball in tight spaces is a joy to behold. The goal should do him some good too!

RAHEEM STERLING – 8

This boy has become a man in the Champions League. For such a young player, he takes so much responsibility on the pitch. His tactical awareness is brilliant, and he’s going to be a star.

SERGIO AGUERO – 8

Could have had two or three, but he put in an excellent performance upfront by himself. Took his goal very well and looked threatening all night. Hopefully he can produce the same on Sunday!
