City 1-2 Spurs: player ratings

JOE HART – 6

Given no chance with either goal. His kicking was rather erratic and his infatuation with punching crosses instead of catching was infuriating to say the least.

PABLO ZABALETA – 7 (Man of the Match)

An excellent performance. Zaba was strong in the tackle and always trying to press us up the pitch. Didn’t deserve to be on the losing side today.

VINCENT KOMPANY – 7

A good solid showing from the captain on his return. A little rusty, but made some crucial tackles. His passing and control of the back four has been sorely missed.

NICOLAS OTAMENDI – 6

Another solid showing like his fellow centre-back. He didn’t put a foot wrong really and was strong against Harry Kane, so can he pleased with his performance despite the result.

GAEL CLICHY – 7

A very good showing from the French left-back. Always on the front foot, pressing forwards and making some timely interceptions. He’s finally looking fully fit.

FERNANDO – 6

A solid display at the heart of the midfield. Produced some good challenges, and it was evident we lost control of the midfield after he went off.

FERNANDINHO – 6

A decent performance from the dynamic Brazilian. Pressed his opposition well, and made some strong tackles in the midfield. His passing was slightly erratic at times, though this was due to the excellent pressing of the opposition.

YAYA TOURE – 5

A sub par performance from Yaya. There were glimpses of quality, but he lost the ball in a dangerous area which led to Spurs’ second goal. Has to start moving the ball quicker again.

DAVID SILVA – 6

Some lovely touches, and when he’s on the ball you can see the guile and quality he possesses. The problem is he’s still not fully fit, and he missed a glorious chance at the end to salvage a point.

RAHEEM STERLING – 6

After a quiet start to the game, he grew and grew in stature as the game went on. He delivered some good crosses, and ran Rose ragged in the second half. Much improved.

SERGIO AGUERO – 6

Today was a sub par performance from Kun. Constantly caught offside, he was guilty on several occasions of not passing the ball to his teammates when they were in better positions. Hard to be too critical though, as he was often isolated.

SUBS:

KELECHI IHEANACHO – 7

Took his finish superbly, and gave us a new dimension when on the pitch. Looks to be forming a formidable partnership with Aguero. A massive talent.

ALEKSANDR KOLAROV – 4

At fault for the second Spurs goal, giving the dangerous Eriksen far too much space. Some of his crosses were woeful. Has to improve.
