Villa 0-4 City: player ratings

WILLY CABALLERO – 6

A comfortable afternoon for City’s cup goalkeeper. Made a good save from Gil and impressed again with his excellent distribution.

PABLO ZABALETA – 7

Great to see him wearing the captain’s armband! Snapped into tackles and provided excellent energy going forward. A good afternoon for the right-back.

BACARY SAGNA – 7

The season gets better and better for Bac. Played out of his usual comfort zone at centre-back alongside Nicolas Otamendi and slotted in excellently, playing a key role in the first goal.

NICOLAS OTAMENDI – 7

A much better afternoon for the Argentine against a limited Villa team. Marshaled the back four very well and immediately developed a good understanding with Sagna.

GAEL CLICHY – 6

Another good afternoon for the French international. Solid yet again and used his energy well to support Sterling going forward.

FERNANDO – 7

Put in a very good performance against a weak Villa midfield. Protected the back four well, constantly snuffing put danger, as well as showcasing a good range of passing to start multiple attacks. Can be pleased with his afternoon.

FABIAN DELPH – 7

Excellent performance from the much maligned “snake”. Slithered well all over the pitch, showing his old side the quality he brings. May be gutted not to have scored in such a rout, but he can be very pleased with his performance.

FERNANDINHO – 8

Another excellent performance from the Brazilian energizer bunny. Full of energy, he always gives one hundred percent and has developed into arguably the best central midfielder in the country.

JESUS NAVAS – 7

It was yet another good outing from Navas. Terrorising his full-back, he played a huge part in Sterling’s penalty, his excellent cross putting Bacuna in a nightmare position to deal with the danger. Should start our next game.

RAHEEM STERLING – 7

He’s having an impressive first season at City and furthered this by winning a penalty and scoring a goal. Ripped the opposing full-back to pieces throughout the game.

KELECHI IHEANACHO – 9 (Man of the Match)

A sensational performance. Cold as ice in front of goal, you can see that scoring goals comes so naturally to him. Has given the manager a huge headache over whether he starts next game or not.

SUBS:

BERSANT CELINA – 6

Was given a few more minutes of FA Cup action to show his talent, and he did well, showcasing a few good passes as well as providing some good movement.

ANGELINO – 6

Made his full professional for City and showed why he’s so highly rated, making some excellent interceptions and showing good energy going forward.

CAMERON HUMPHREYS – N/A

No real time to mark.
