West Ham 2-2 City: player ratings

JOE HART – 8

Will be disappointed to concede two goals, but made some fantastic saves. His stop from Payet’s free-kick could be a contender for save of the season.

BACARY SAGNA – 7

Another good performance from the French defender. Made some crucial challenges and never stops running up the right hand side. One of our better performers this season.

MARTIN DEMICHELIS – 6

Struggled against the pace of Valencia all game, and was perhaps slightly fortunate to only receive a yellow when he brought Antonio down. Not all his fault though, as the back four are constantly exposed.

NICOLAS OTAMENDI – 6

After an excellent performance last week he was well below his usual high standards. Very poor for West Ham’s second goal, and committed some needless fouls.

GAEL CLICHY – 7

Another good display from the French left-back. His pressing on the left hand side is crucial to us winning the ball back quickly. Though he lacks the attacking qualities of Kolarov, he rarely lets us down when he plays.

YAYA TOURE – 5

When we needed a big performance, he was nowhere to be seen. Ghosted past for the first goal, and looked completely disinterested running back towards his own goal. Has to show more responsibility.

FABIAN DELPH – 6

A performance with the typical energy you’d expect from Fabian. Tried with all his might to protect the back four, though lacked the real quality in the final third to make a difference.

JESUS NAVAS – 6

For all his faults, he plays his position really well, helping Sagna out time and time again and never shirking his defensive responsibilities. Has to start offering more in an attacking sense as what he’s currently producing isn’t good enough.

DAVID SILVA – 4

In a position of such importance, Silva was genuinely awful. His movement, touch and passing are way below par, and is becoming a detriment to the side at the moment. Has to do more.

KEVIN DE BRUYNE – 5

Similar to Silva, it was yet another away day to forget for Kevin. Comes alive when we have the ball, but isn’t doing enough to supply Aguero or make space for his teammates. Missed a good chance at the end as well.

SERGIO AGUERO – 8 (Man of the Match)

Where would we be without him? Another excellent display, and deserves so much more from his teammates. Seems to be back to full sharpness now, and added another two goals to his impressive tally this season.

SUBS:

RAHEEM STERLING – 5

A quiet display when he came, his opponent Byram had the better of him. Wasn’t able to provide the spark we needed.

KELECHI IHEANACHO – 7

A brilliant display. Immediately worried the West Ham backline and played a huge part in Aguero’s second goal. Deserves a start midweek.

FERNANDO – N/A

No time to mark.
