City 4-0 Crystal Palace: player ratings

JOE HART – 6

Aside from a very good save to deny Delaney, it was a relatively quiet afternoon for the England international. His distribution has markedly improved, as has his ability to command his six yard box.

PABLO ZABALETA – 7

Brilliant to see him back marauding down that right-hand touchline. His runs are so crucial to breaking down stubborn sides. Diligent in his defensive duties, getting the better of Zaha and Puncheon.

NICOLAS OTAMENDI – 7

Growing with stature and confidence after each game. Seems to enjoy playing with Demichelis, marshaling the back four well. We look as if we’ve finally found a leader in Kompany’s absence.

MARTIN DEMICHELIS – 7

Looking a lot more comfortable alongside Otamendi. He’s obviously lacking pace, but his intelligence means he’s never exposed by opposition attackers. Good to see him back in the side, and he offers us vital experience.

ALEKSANDER KOLAROV – 6

Was very sad to see him go off, hopefully however his injury isn’t too serious. Again, as he has done all season, provided some excellent crosses into the box, pinning his man back. It will be a big blow if he’s out for a lengthy period of time.

KEVIN DE BRUYNE – 6

Today’s was a strange performance from Kevin. He never seemed to be involved with our general attacking play, but his quick eye for a pass, coupled with his ability to cross the ball excellently means he’s vital to success this year.

FERNANDO – 6

Followed up Wednesdays performance with another strong display. Shielding the back four very well. His limitations on the ball are plain for all to see, but he seems to be enjoying playing alongside Delph.

FABIAN DELPH – 8 (Man of the Match)

The England international put in an excellent display, carrying the ball from deep, tenacious in the tackle, and pushing us higher up the pitch. His goal was a brilliant strike that should bring him a lot of confidence.

DAVID SILVA – 7

Much better from the Spaniard, growing into the game the more it went on. Linked up very well on the left with Kolarov and Delph, and took his goal very well. Hopefully he maintains this level as his ability to control a game is crucial to us being successful this season.

KELECHI IHEANACHO – 6

Not a lot came off for him today, but he works very hard, providing that youthful energy that we’ve seriously lacked in recent weeks. What’s refreshing to see is how he’s not afraid to get stuck in, he never gives opposition defenders a minute. Has a massive future ahead of him.

SERGIO AGUERO – 8

Sergio is back! Was maybe a little fortuitous with his first goal, but his touch and movement was top class. His second goal was an all round brilliant team goal, and finished off with a brilliant selfless assist to Silva. Can be very pleased with his afternoon’s work.

SUBS:

GAEL CLICHY – 6

Solid as ever, and vital to our pressing game. Good to have him back fit, especially if Kolarov will be out for a lengthy period of time.

YAYA TOURE – 6

Offered us immediate control as soon as he came on. Doesn’t have the legs he once did, but his passing and positioning are top quality.

JESUS NAVAS – N/A

No real time to mark.
